The Play
The Bully is Back introduces principles of resilience. Alex, who has been bullying Poppy in part 2 of the trilogy, returns to school. Poppy tries something new and attempts to befriend Alex. She discovers a lot about his home life and realises that this has contributed to his bullying. Poppy seeks help from her wise friend Sensei who introduces her to the three pillars of resilience: ‘I have, I am and I can’. Sensei and Poppy share this with Alex and together they help him develop his own resilience; enabling to him understand and cope with the negative forces in his life. Alex begins to feel better about himself and slowly loses the need to bully others.
The three sources of resilience I Have, I am and I Can are dramatised in the play to encourage children to foster trusting relationships, pride in oneself, the ability to problem solve and a growth toward autonomous and independent behaviour.
The Bully is Back promotes resilience in children and offers practical strategies to cope with bullying at school and at home.
Comments
“The Bully is Back was very positive. A great learning experience. The interactive part with the children was fun – but also helped to develop empathy towards a bully and provided strategies for the children to help him/her.”
“The children loved The bully is Back! The show was very funny and the children were engaged. They were able to identify bullying and strategies to use after the show.”
